This week’s challenge was based off of the fairytale “The Frog Prince”. It was a fun challenge to do, but how couldn’t it have been? Haha. I drew and painted this piece from life. The frog is actually a cast iron bottle opener, but I bought him as a paper weight on a road trip with my friend to Cape Cod, MA. I did struggle drawing him as perspective from life is SO MUCH harder to nail than when drawing from a photo, but painting him was fun! While I did the frog in watercolor, I did his crown in acrylic because I wanted a ‘true’ gold. If you zoom in on the crown, you can actually see the light reflecting off the pigment!
If you missed my post which explains this year-long challenge, please read You’re Invited To The Unveilings.

And Israel thought frogs were a plague? Bring em on–we need more princes in the world!

If I kiss the frog will my bald head turn hairy? Probably got my stories mixed up. So thankful you’re improving.
Love you,
Uncle Allan

I love his eye…and which color acrylic did u use for his crown? It really does glitter.
Btw…you have actually inspired me to paint more. I emailed two of my latest.

Unfortunately Colleen, I couldn’t even tell you the color I used. It is some craft acrylic I’ve had for YEARS. Mostly dried up now. 🙁 It is not a brand that I normally use. I’ll try to remember to look the next time I’m in my studio.
