I painted this little sign for myself well over 20 years ago and it hasn’t moved from its place on my supply caddy in my studio.
For about a year I prayed for God to use my gift. My floral and scenic paintings lacked the depth and purpose I longed for. His answer came through a question by artist Ron DiCianni. He asked, “What makes you weep when you are on your knees before God? That is what you are to address in your work.” Through his words, God called me to paint the very subject matter I had intentionally been avoiding…people.
One of the things I’ve learned though (and keep learning) is the power of obedience to God. After stepping out, He increased my gift overnight and opened doors I couldn’t have dreamed of for and through my art. It is ALL Him. I’m just His paintbrush!
