A Challenge For Memorial Day
I am really excited about this week’s challenge for a few different reasons. First off, look at all those loose brush strokes and water stains!!! I definitely felt ‘freedom’ as I worked on this! Then of course I had to muster some courage to throw red paint on top on my flag I worked so hard on! Haha! But what I am most excited about with this piece is its inspiration. One of the things I have been praying about is how I want to be a ‘voice’, not an ‘echo’ in my art and ministry. I’ve really been praying for God to give me vision. Well, in the back of my mind I knew wanted to paint a flag this week to honor all of our service men and women. However, it was in the middle of worship yesterday morning at church that the Lord dropped in my creative spirit to have the flag bloodstained to represent all those who have given their lives for the freedoms we have in the United States.
Thank you to anyone who is reading this who is serving or who has served my country to protect my freedom. I can’t fully comprehend the price you have paid, especially if you have been wounded, but your service and sacrifice is appreciated beyond words when I see the lack of freedom around the world. “Thank you” seems so insufficient. And to those who have lost loved ones in the fight, please know that I am praying peace, comfort and grace over you this day.

I echo your sentiments for our service men and women – especially those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice. They are true heroes. They don’t wear capes but rather uniforms and honor.

This is both beautiful and meaningful. It is very moving and makes you think more of the spilled blood of men and women for their country.
I hope you make cards or prints or both!
